For our couples out there, whether this is you first or your 15th Valentine’s Day, let’s look at some different ideas you may want to try this year to make this year extra special:
Romantic Getaway
If you want to go big, don’t stay home. Pack your bags and road trip with your partner for the weekend. Maybe go to some charming towns like Savannah, Charleston or St. Simons. Sometimes the best way to celebrate is to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday and do something exciting, go somewhere you’ve never been and create new adventures with your sweetheart.
A Handmade Valentine
Sometimes as couples we get in a routine of going to the store and buying chocolates and a Hallmark card. This year, it’s not about the money, it’s about the effort. Sometimes in a relationship we can become rather complacent.
Try something different this year and go outside of the box to hand make a special card for your sweetie, along with some homemade chocolate treats. Your partner will love the effort and the thoughtfulness behind it. The old saying always holds true, “it’s the thought that counts”.
Finishing A Project
Remember that project you started as a couple three months ago and just never got around to finishing? Maybe it’s painting a room and you have one wall left, or putting those shelves together to hang on the wall so you can display your photos & memories. Drop off the kids, put on your comfy clothes and get ready for a playful, productive night. Sometimes coming together as a couple, no cell phones, no TV, and no distractions to accomplish something together can be just as romantic as candle light and champagne. Play in the paint, chase each other around the house, get back in touch with the fun that you had when you first started dating or first started living together.
For our singles out there, don’t worry we haven’t forgotten about you! This year, make it all about YOU and if you want to celebrate with friends, the more the merrier. Valentine’s Day 2019 can be all about platonic and self-love.
Pizza and Wine Night
Spa Day
For the singles who just need a little time alone, this year you may want to spend a relaxing evening at the spa to pamper yourself and celebrate “you”.
This can mean doing something as simple as getting a pedicure, a Swedish massage, or indulging in that facial you’ve always been wanting. Make the day all about getting back in touch with yourself and doing something for you that you deserve. Plus, when we look good, we feel good!
Make It A Family Night
Some of us will want to stay in and watch something on the television or scroll through social media, but if you don’t want to do Valentine’s alone, it’s the perfect night to gather with family and visit with your parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, etc. Break out the popcorn and watch a family movie, or work on family albums and play some fun board games. Whatever the case, it’s a perfect night to be surrounded by your loved ones and special quality time with family.
This year, follow some of our steps for the special day and make this the best year yet!
